CEL provided a complete turnkey electrical, engineering, automation and instrumentation solution for an organic pulse crop processing plant in the village of Vanscoy, Saskatchewan. The company behind it, Verident Foods, was founded to meet the global demand for sustainable plant-based protein.
This was a unique facility that involved the integration of several equipment platforms to create a proprietary food-grade processing system. CEL’s engineering and design team worked closely with ownership to ensure we fully understood all design and operational requirements from the outset. It was a fluid project. CEL was able to adapt to multiple change orders over the course of construction in order to meet the client’s technical requirements.
As part of CEL’s full-service solution, our sister company, Comco, manufactured all control panels and distribution equipment used in the plant. Where required, our components were adapted to ensure seamless operation with vendor control systems. The plant is fully operational, with production volumes expected to increase to over 160,000 MT as Verident expands its product lines.
