Hudbay Minerals history of exploring and mining hard rock minerals in Manitoba can be traced back nearly 100 years. The company is on the cusp of an exciting new phase of growth, led by its Lalor mine in Snow Lake, MB. This mine produces gold, zinc, copper and silver.
CEL was responsible for completing power and controls wiring for the mine’s head frame and hoist house, as well as completing work on a warehouse. The project consisted of high voltage distribution as well as all power and control wiring. In addition, CEL installed all fiber optic and lightning protection systems.
The project involved 20 electricians at its height. A winter construction schedule required crews to work in harsh conditions where temperature dropped as low as -35°C. Much of the work was in the open. Drawing on our project experience in remote locations allowed CEL to be proactive in managing logical challenges.
