Scope of work and summary:
Granary Road is a one-of-a-kind farmers market, 36-acre park, and working farm located in south Calgary. Customers can shop the 25,000 sq. ft. indoor market space year-round for an incredible selection of fresh produce, cheese, hand-crafted items and accessories.
CEL was involved in the construction of the market pavilion, outdoor learning centre, greenhouse and a large maintenance shop. Comco (CEL’s design, engineering and manufacturing division) was a partner in the electrical design and FA.
Civil work consisted of the installation of a transformer vault, and placement of underground conduits in all buildings (including data lines for the farmers market). Underground power was required for interactive stations located throughout the massive outdoor learning area. The electrical work involved the installation of basic circuitry, LED lighting and fire alarm system in the market pavilion – as well as a full electrical system for the maintenance shop and greenhouse.
The market has become a popular destination for Calgarians of all ages and is a project we were proud to work on.
